Dr. Sledge was born and raised in a small town North of New Orleans. In 2002, he received his Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from The University of Mississippi. Dr. Sledge received his Dental Degree from Louisiana State University in 2007. During his time at LSU he was the President of the Delta Sigma Fraternity and was an active member of the American Student Dental Association.
In his 11 years of practice experience, Dr. Sledge has worked in both public and private practice. His biggest adventure was helping the T. O. Tribe in Southwestern Arizona. Most recently he worked for Oral Heath Partnership, helping underserved children in Green Bay. He is a member of the Wisconsin Dental Association and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Sledge and his wife Cora spend their time together enjoying outdoor activities of any kind. They also love exploring the regional food and culture of the Midwestern region, especially in and around Door County. They are fascinated with Supper Club culture, and sometimes travel long distances to experience unique ones. They have been coming up to Door County for years. They have been married for 2 years and are looking forward to raising a family in Sister Bay. Dr. Sledge enjoys cycling, hiking, boating, fishing, snowboarding, and cross country skiing. He is also a musician, playing guitar and drums. Dr. Sledge is extremely excited to try a couple of new winter sports in Door County; he can’t wait to try ice fishing and snowmobiling!
What is your favorite food? – Mac and Cheese!!! 😊
What do you like to do with your spare time? – Cora and I are looking forward to working out, traveling, hiking, biking, and boating, and especially exploring Door County more! Wine, Cherries, and Cheese!!
What is your favorite TV show? – Stranger Things
If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why? – I would go back to Hawaii because it is so beautiful, and the people are so lovely and because of the Aloha spirit.
Or, of the places you’ve traveled what was your favorite and why? – My favorite place to travel used to be Colorado, because I love mountains of any kind, but truly my favorite place to travel has become Door County, and now we are so lucky to live here!
If you could meet anyone from past or present who would it be and why? – Jimi Hendrix – I would love to talk music and guitar with him, if even only for an hour! He was a revolutionary artist.
What is it about dentistry that you love? – I love helping our patients, especially giving someone their smile back. Helping people is enough, because that is the reason I got into this profession. I LOVE it when patients are happy! It makes me happy!
Dr. Feit was born and raised near Wausau, Wisconsin. In 1998, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Wyoming. Dr. Feit received his Dental Degree from Creighton University Medical Center’s School of Dentistry in 2004. While at Creighton, he was President of the Dental Student Union, awarded membership in the Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honor Society, awarded Membership in the Pierre Fauchard Academy for outstanding academic achievements in dentistry, and awarded membership in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.
Dr. Feit practiced dentistry in Green Bay before he relocated to Sturgeon Bay. In March of 2008, Dr. Feit assumed his current dental practice, Dentistry by Design in Sturgeon Bay, when Robert J. Schrank, DDS, retired. Additionally, Dr. Feit added Dentistry by Design locations in Sister Bay in 2012, and Algoma in 2015. In August 2018 he sold Dentistry by Design in Sister Bay to Dr. John Sledge. He continues to provide care on a part-time basis in Sister Bay alongside Dr. Sledge. Dentistry by Design emphasizes comprehensive and advanced dental care. To be able to provide this level of care, Dr. Feit has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education since graduating dental school. He has studied TMJ/bite problems at the Pankey Institute, Dental Implants at the Misch International Implant Institute, as well as countless other topics. In June of 2013, he received Fellowship status with the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). The AGD Fellowship Award is presented to dentists who seek to provide the highest quality of dental care by remaining current in their profession. To accomplish this goal, Dr. Feit completed 500 hours of continuing dental education, passed a comprehensive exam, and fulfilled three years of continuous membership in the AGD.
Dr. Feit is a firm believer in giving back through dentistry. While living in Green Bay, Dr. Feit participated as a member on the Board of Directors, as well as being a practitioner, for the Brown County Oral Health Partnership. The Oral Health Partnership delivers free dental care to underserved children using mobile dental equipment in school settings. Dr. Feit was also a member of the NEWAHEC Board of Directors. This board was responsible for distributing grant money to fund programs encouraging minorities to choose careers in healthcare. Dr. Feit has been active in advocating for patient care at the state level and was the recipient of the WDA Pyramid of Pride Award for Political Action following his run for the State Assembly in 2012.
Since moving to Sturgeon Bay, Dr. Feit provides dental care at Ministry Door County Medical Center’s ER and OR Departments on an as needed basis. Currently, Dr. Feit is on the Wisconsin Dental Association’s Practice Transitions Committee. Dr. Feit is also a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the Brown-Door- Kewaunee Dental Society.
Dr. Feit has been married to his wife Jillian for over 18 years. They enjoy traveling with their two children Henry and Claire. Dr. Feit is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys fishing (although he is admittedly not very good at it), hunting, hiking and flying.
A few fun facts about Dr. Feit:
What is your favorite food? – Enchiladas with green sauce. I ask for the special sauce they hide in the back because it is too hot for the average American. When I break a slight sweat while eating the enchiladas I know they are “just right”!
What do you like to do with your spare time? – Anything outdoors. My top choices are pheasant hunting and farming.
What is your favorite TV show? – I actually go weeks at a time without watching any TV. The exception of course, is during Packer season. Go Pack!
If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why? Or, of the places you’ve traveled what was your favorite and why? – The time I spent in Wyoming at school with my Wife is as unforgettable as any. Wyoming has our hearts.
If you could meet anyone from past or present who would it be and why? – Einstein for sure. I would like to ask him what on earth happened to his hair!
What is it about dentistry that you love? – Every day I meet new people and conquer new challenges. It is never the same day twice.
