Sedation Dentistry at Dentistry by Design

Do you or do you know someone who avoids dental visits out of fear and/or anxiety?   If so, Sedation Dentistry could be just what they need. Sedation Dentistry, sometimes called Relaxation Dentistry, refers to the way a dentist manages a patient’s fear and anxiety during dental appointments.

Dr. Feit and Dr. Grenfell offer patients a safe form of conscious sedation known as Oral Sedation at our Sturgeon BaySister Bay and Algoma locations.

If you experience one or more of the following with regard to dental appointments you may be a good candidate for Sedation Dentistry.

        • Afraid of needles, shots and pain.
        • Have bad memories of past dental visits.
        • Have moderate to extreme fear and anxiety.
        • Has a sensitive gag reflex.
        • Needs several procedures done in a single visit.
        • Have difficulty sitting for long periods of time.
        • Have sensitive teeth.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is the happy medium between nitrous oxide and IV sedation or general anesthesia. With the help of a small pill our patients can be comfortably and minimally sedated through an entire dental visit. It helps to eliminate the anxiety and pain sometimes associated with dental visits. Oral sedation is safe and effective and can be used with most dental procedures and by most patients over 14 years of age.
