Following completion of Dr. McLuen’s dental education at Creighton University in Omaha, NE, he moved to Texas with his family and spent time in both Austin and San Antonio. It was a nice change of scenery for a short while, but it was time to return home after five years. A Wisconsin native, he has two beautiful daughters named Madison and Kennedy.
Dr. McLuen’s dental education is well-rounded and includes several years of dental assisting prior to earning his doctorate degree. One of his most recent endeavors involved performing mobile dentistry at nursing and rehab centers before moving back to Wisconsin. He enjoys getting to know his patients and constantly strives for optimal oral health through education and communication.
When not practicing dentistry, Dr. McLuen enjoys spending time with his family (and his dog Nakoma) in the great outdoors, hunting and fishing, reading up on the latest in American muscle cars and keeping up with his favorite sports. Even though he grew up near the Minnesota border and watched a lot of the Vikings back then, he has always been a huge Packers fan. He loves the Badgers too, but admits to being a long-time Twins follower.
A few fun facts about Dr. McLuen:
What is your favorite food? Any wild game or fish on the grill with sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus. I’m an old-fashioned meat and potatoes kind of guy.
What do you like to do with your spare time? – Hunt and fish as much as possible and spend time with my kids in the great outdoors. I also love to rollerblade and enjoy playing ball with my dog.
What is your favorite TV show? – I do watch a lot of college and pro sports, especially games that spark my interest. My TV time is typically limited to River Monsters with Jeremy Wade. I also love watching a good movie anytime.
If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why? – I’ve been to Alaska twice, and it’s been fourteen years since I’ve been back. I long to return to this absolutely gorgeous state. The wildlife and scenery is captivating and you never want to stop driving to see different areas. I stood face-to-face with a calf moose right outside our cabin!
If you could meet anyone from past or present who would it be and why? – Michael Jordan for sure. He captured the hearts of people worldwide and I was one of them as a boy. His drive to be the best at whatever he did and still always strive to be even better was amazing inspiration for me.
What is it about dentistry that you love? – Getting people out of pain is one of my favorite aspects of dentistry. The other is improving someone’s smile to the point where they can’t stop smiling afterwards, even if it’s something simple like repairing a chipped front tooth that’s been that way for years.
